Pilots who wish to commence the JAA Flight Instructor course must have a minimum of 250 hours of helicopter flight time of which, for holders of a CPL(H), 100 hours must be as pilot in command. Pilots must also have a valid type rating for the helicopter in which the flight instructor course is to be conducted. At Bristow Academy, JAA Flight Instructor training is conducted on the Schweizer 300CBi.
