New Student Checklist

We have compiled this list to assist new students with remembering important items to bring. You may feel that some of the items listed are obvious, but a reminder does not hurt. Print Version Here (PDF)

US Students

  • Passport or original birth certificate. This is required for TSA verification
  • If you are a US resident (Green Card holder) remember your Permanent Residency Card
  • Driver’s license, registration, and proof of car insurance
  • Check book and ATM card for incidentals. Apartments do not accept credit cards
  • Credit card
  • Logbook, license, and charts if you have previous aviation experience
  • FAA medical
  • Clothing for both warm and cool weather

Also cash advances using credit cards are usually limited to $200-$400 per day. DO NOT BRING A BANK DRAFT REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOUR BANK TELLS YOU AS IT MAY TAKE 6 WEEKS TO CLEAR AND MOST U.S. BANKS WILL CHARGE A SUBSTANTIAL HANDLING FEE
  • Arrange with your bank to be able to make a request by phone or by fax for wire transfers to be sent to your US account once opened
  • Driver’s license or international driver’s license if the license issued by your home country is not in English
  • Letter from Trygdeetaten (Norwegian students only)
